5 Simple Girls' Night Ideas for Moms That Need a Break
Building and maintaining friendships can get tougher when you become a parent. Life becomes overwhelming with diapers, tantrums, and finding babysitters; however, taking breaks is imperative for the wellbeing of all moms.
Sometimes we just need to restore our sanity with a little “me time” or catching up with friends during a girls’ night that’s easy, fun, and most importantly, safe!
Hosting an in-person gathering is challenging these days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring together some of your favorite faces. All you need is a little inspiration and a way to communicate virtually -- like FaceTime, Zoom, or even Google Hangouts.
While we can’t help with the video conferencing, we can serve up some fresh inspiration with these five virtual event ideas that are perfect for moms who need a break!
#1 Spa Night
There’s no better way to get some R&R in than with a DIY spa night with your friends. Facial masks are a must and easy to make with ingredients found in your own kitchen! My personal favorite is a brown sugar exfoliating scrub -- and it’s only 2 ingredients, equal parts brown sugar and coconut oil.
#2 Arts & Crafts Night
While you might not think of it as a stress reliever, art can be very therapeutic and help self-soothe. Whether it’s scrapbooking, knitting, or painting, it’s a great way to get all your friends involved and try something different. Get your creative juices flowing with a DIY craft project like painting mason jars!
If you really want to take your Girls Night In to the next level, consider hosting a virtual painting party with your friends. It might sound like a lot of work, but we make it simple for you to create an experience that will last a lifetime.
All you have to do is select the artwork from our gallery, and we’ll handle the rest! Our Studio Kits include everything you’ll need to recreate one of our featured masterpieces, including the easel and brushes. All you have to do is provide the creativity.
#3 Game Night
Just because you’re not in the same room doesn’t mean you can’t have a little Game Night fun!
You can find online versions of many classic games like Scrabble and Taboo. Some apps, like House Party, makes playing games and hanging out incredibly easy. You can choose from traditional card games like Uno, modern hits like Heads Up, or continue the art trend with a few rounds of Quick Draw!
Your choices are near endless.
#4 Wine Tasting Party
You had us at wine! In the past, we’ve recommended hosting a tapas potluck and wine tasting party by having everyone bring over a tapa of their choice and their favorite wine.
But since potlucks are temporarily off the menu, we’ve got some other great ideas. Many services can mail wine-tasting kits directly to your home. But if the service isn’t available for everyone, you can send out shopping lists in advance.
If your attendees are all local, consider getting delivery from everyone’s favorite restaurant. Or you can make things even more engaging and order food kits to everyone’s door.
#5 Book Club
Book clubs are a great way to bring friends together and read a new book at the same time. The hardest part -- deciding on the first book to read! Find a theme and some discussion questions to get started. You can also create a bucket list of books to read for future girls’ night!
